What are 5petals?

Why is our art studio named 5petals?

5 petals represent the plum blossom, which is also the national flower of Taiwan, where 5petals' founder, cheryl wu, grew up. In addition, the word for "5", 五, in Chinese, is a homonym for Wu, 吳, cheryl's family name (albeit the word for 5 has a down-then-up accent, whereas the surname Wu has an upward accent). Plum blossoms, or 梅花, bloom in the coldest of winter, covered in snow; as such, these flowers have come to symbolize hardy endurance, and beauty even when there is literally no life around.

Additionally, each of the 5 petals also represents a group of values our founder, cheryl wu, most holds dear:

1. love, compassion, kindness

2. community, interconnectedness, collaboration

3. justice, fairness, peace

4. celebration, joy, love

5. flow, ease, equanimity
